Thousands of people are expected to visit Pismo Beach for Memorial Day weekend to kick off the busy summer travel season
PISMO BEACH, Calif .– The town of Pismo Beach is forecasting a busy start to the summer season.
Thousands of tourists are expected to descend on the popular tourist destination over the next few days to celebrate Memorial Day weekend, which kicks off the summer travel season each year.
“We’re definitely starting to get busy,” said Jorge Garcia, manager of Pismo Beach services. “Spring Break started it. We have continued to have a constant flow of visitors. Over the past three or four days, we’ve definitely seen hotel reservations coming in, people coming in. We see the coolers. We see families. We see a lot of smiles and those are good indicators for us. Businesses are happy to welcome people back. The community really comes alive and that’s what we love to be here at Pismo. “
For many businesses, such as hotels, restaurants, gift shops, convenience stores, and other travel-related businesses, it’s time to make some big sales.
Already Friday, Pismo Beach is full of tourists. The streets of the city are teeming with visitors walking on the sidewalks and vehicles slowing traffic on the roads.
The famous coastline of Pismo Beach will also be a popular spot for tourists during the holiday weekend.
In preparation, the city will begin staffing lifeguard towers as of 10 a.m. today.
Rescue towers will be staffed seven days a week for the duration of the summer season which ends on Labor Day weekend.
“We have our lifeguards who are on the beach,” Garcia said. We will have additional patrols this weekend. We want people to come and enjoy the community in a safe and responsible way. We want people to clean up after themselves, but we want people to enjoy the natural beauty that we have. The weather is supposed to be fantastic. “
