Obasanjo advises traditional leaders to promote unity
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo advised the traditional rulers of Ogun State to promote unity among themselves.
Obasanjo also tasked traditional leaders and stakeholders with promoting cultural heritage and making it a tourist attraction.
The former president, who is Owu’s Balogun in Abeokuta, spoke on Saturday during the Odun Omo Olowu 2021 held in Abeokuta.
During the event, which was attended by State Governor Dapo Abiodun and his predecessor Senator Ibikunle Amosun, among others, a former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Adeleye Oyebade, was honored while one of Obasanjo’s children, Seun, received distinguished son Owu.
Obasanjo, who spoke in the presence of Alake d’Egbaland, Oba Michael Gbadebo, and Agura de Gbagura, Oba Saburi Bakre, among other traditional leaders, implored them to work together to promote development. of State.
He said: “Our kabiyesis have a lot of work to do to achieve unity, they have to work hand in hand to progress.
“May it be possible for us to do everything; the governor’s happiness will be that all the kings of Ogun Central, at home and abroad, join hands in helping the government.
Regarding the need to promote culture to make Ogun a tourist destination, Obasanjo said, “Some people came to me and told me that we don’t have tourist attraction centers.
“They said the only tourist attraction we have is Olumo (Rock), I told them we have other tourist attractions. And all our traditions? When we pack them up and do it right, they’re tourist attractions, one of them is what we do here today. ”
The governor, in his remarks, praised the former president for his roles in the state and the country.
