Navotas government now requires tourists to present health documents before entry – Manila Bulletin
People coming from outside the NCR Plus bubble will have to submit various health-related requirements before being allowed to enter the town of Navotas to protect residents from COVID-19.
The local government announced on Wednesday that tourists from outside the National Capital Region (NCR) Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal and Cavite – collectively referred to as the NCR Plus bubble – must register on s.pass.ph and must submit a health declaration or medical certificate issued by the health office of their origin before they can enter the city.
“It must state that the tourist is not a COVID-19 patient nor a suspected or probable case,” read a notice posted on the local government’s social media pages.
“A negative result in the RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) swab test is also required,” he added.
Those entering Navotas must also present a certificate issued by their Barangay government, stating that they are not included in the list of those who must undergo quarantine or have already completed their period of quarantine.
They must determine their destination point or the address where they will stay in the city, adds the notice.
“The travel restriction is a precautionary measure to ensure that we do not experience another wave of COVID cases. We have seen an influx of cases and high transmission rates in places outside of NCR Plus. We must put in place additional guarantees to ensure the safety of our population, ”Mayor Toby Tiangco said in a statement.
“Although our cases remain low, they are steadily increasing, which is why we must be very careful and proactive in our fight against this deadly and ever-evolving virus,” he added.
According to an OCTA Research report, Navotas recorded the fewest new cases per day from June 25 to July 1 among other metro cities in Manila.
As of July 6, Navotas had a total of 11,088 cases of COVID-19. Of these, 10,619 have recovered, 371 have died and 98 are still active.
