Cayman Islands announce plan to reopen world-class destination to international leisure tourism
Five-The phase plan for the safe return of tourism aims to see the destination fully reopen from here January 2022

The Government of the Cayman Islands (CIG) has worked closely with health authorities, the public sector and the private sector to develop this five-phase approach to ensure a safe and healthy experience for those working in the industry and visitors who choose to experience bespoke luxury. for which the island destination is known around the world. The reopening phases include:
- Phase 1: Reduced quarantine period | June 2021
In this step, the Cayman Islands reduced quarantine periods and relaxed other travel restrictions. To be completely vaccinated and safely checked travelers, a mandatory five-day quarantine is in place; unvaccinated travelers must undergo a 14-day isolation period.
- Phase 2: Reduced repatriation restrictions | August 9, 2021
In this phase, additional travel restrictions will be relaxed, including the removal of GPS monitoring. All local businesses must adhere to advanced safety protocols issued by regulators and guidelines from the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). All travelers will continue to request entry clearance through the Travel Cayman portal.
- Phase 3: Limited introduction of tourism | September 9, 2021
This phase, subject to reaching a vaccination rate of 80% on the island, will allow a limited introduction of tourists with a secure verification of the vaccination status. Cruise travel will not be permitted during this phase. All travelers will continue to request entry through the Travel Cayman portal.
- Phase 4: Quarantine restrictions reduced | October 14, 2021
Quarantine requirements will be removed for all travelers who are safely verified and fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated visitors will need to apply for entry through Travel Cayman and self-quarantine upon arrival for a period of 14 days. In addition, all travelers must declare their travel and vaccination status on the Travel Cayman portal.
- Phase 5: Travel for unvaccinated children | November 18, 2021
While cruise tourism remains prohibited at this stage, unvaccinated children (under 12) will now be permitted to travel with vaccinated adult tourists; no quarantine period will be required for children. Unvaccinated visitors over 12 years old should be quarantined for 14 days.

Once the country has completed the five phases and after a thorough assessment by government and health officials, the Cayman Islands will celebrate its grand reopening, welcoming all travelers without quarantine or travel restrictions. At this time, cruise tourism can resume.
At all phases, public health officials will monitor the prevalence rate and spread of COVID-19. The transition between stages will be determined by a multitude of factors. At all stages, all inbound travelers are required to make a travel and vaccination status declaration on the Travel Cayman portal, and present the declaration certificate, vaccination documents and proof of medical insurance which includes a coverage for COVID-19 upon arrival.
