Arnold’s popular campsite will return this summer with confirmation of events
A popular campground located on a beautiful five-acre glade in Arnold will reopen this summer after its success last year – with live music and street food playing.
Comedian Tim Vine, of the BBC sitcom One Not Going Out, has been booked to entertain at a series of events hosted for Sherwood Glade, at Crawling Covert off the A60 Mansfield Road in Arnold.
Reservations are taken with a teepee on site for shelter.
The site proved popular last summer, said landowner Stuart Mills.
The 62-year-old said: “We have a lot of space to be honest, it’s five acres so it’s the size of a football field.
“We could have done more last year, but we felt comfortable with 250, [the capacity] just felt good.
“Comedian Tim Vine, he’s booked to come and entertain so that’s going to be a good thing.
“There will be street vendors, local entertainment – everything is local, literally everything.
“We make sure everyone is from the area.”
The site is located in the middle of a forest in the Burntstump Triangle area, near the police headquarters at Sherwood Lodge.
Events are held under authorized development rights for a specified period of time.
Speaking of the success of the site last year, Mr Mills from Mansfield said: “It was great because everything was shut down, we brought in these little local guitarists in there to play some acoustics and sing and everything. everyone sat on benches two meters apart with waitress service.
“We had street vendors, sushi and hot dogs, and some unusual food – jerk chicken.
“All we did was sell tickets on Facebook and it went really well.
“There was full every weekend for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was awesome. People needed to get out.
“It was almost like a service to the community.”
Organizers are gearing up for weddings and events including Eats & Beats, which on its Facebook page promises live music, cocktails and DJs from Friday August 27 through Sunday August 29.
A comedy festival will also take place on the evening of Saturday July 31, with family entertainment earlier in the day.
