Moline’s coach Rick Sanchez said his team took a step forward after making adjustments while watching the film of the game.
“Thinking back to some elements of possession and the opportunities we weren’t creating, we weren’t dangerous in the attacking third of the pitch,” said Sanchez. “Last week we spent some time working on the offensive half and obviously the guys did a really good job today doing that and understanding what we’re looking for and trying to create a rhythm. and an offensive flow. “
Rock Island coach Rudy Almanza has said his team’s mistakes have cost him dearly when giving up goals. Almanza had to adjust his roster and raise younger guys with injured players or because of academics.
“They wanted a little more,” Almanza said of Moline’s effort. “Their four goals were due to mistakes we made. So it hurts.
Almanza said his side were pressing after losing 1-0 after 25 minutes. He added that this season appears to be a rebuilding season.
“I’m just trying to rebuild a bit, get rid of the negative and bring in the positive,” Almanza said. “We knew that in doing this we were going to suffer a few losses here and there, but we certainly didn’t want to lose through mistakes.”
Sanchez said his team are good at owning the ball, they just need to find a balance in their attacking approach and approach. It paid off as four different players found the net. He credited Jah and Acosta’s performance as a forward.
