A mystery as a woman goes missing after getting into a car in New York
Police are desperate for a woman who went missing after getting into a car with a group of “unidentified individuals” in iconic Times Square in New York City.
Christine Hammontree was captured on May 24 in security footage entering a vehicle at 2 a.m. local time outside McDonald’s at Carrefour du monde.
Police said the 29-year-old told her Maine-based parents that she would be home during the week but never showed up and they reported her missing to local police.
Prior to her disappearance, Ms Hammontree was on a trip to visit her boyfriend in New York City, Falmouth Police Lt. Jeff Pardue told the New York Post.
He added that Ms Hammontree had recently moved home after living in New York herself.
Further safety footage was being sought and details of the type of car she was riding in are expected to be released in the coming days.
Maine Police are leading the investigation as the state is Ms Hammontree’s place of residence, while New York Police are assisting.
She was described as 5’9 with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing an oversized blue T-shirt, cropped jeans and sandals.
She was wearing an orange backpack and aviator sunglasses on her head, police said.
Those with information about his location have been told to contact Falmouth Police.
